GBI investigates law enforcement chase in Dade County

TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Dade County deputies tried to stop a vehicle just after midnight in the northern end of the county, but the suspect ran on them.

During the chase, they say Brandon Bettis tried to ram them with his vehicle, so they opened fire on him.

None of the shots hit the suspect.

And the officers were not hurt either.

But the sheriff asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the incident.

Bettis has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless driving and attempting to elude police.
