Girlfriend of Chattanooga homicide victim: ‘He didn’t deserve this bull(expletive)’

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) — The past weekend in Chattanooga has been so bloody that six people are still recovering from gunshot wounds while a seventh person is dead.

According to police, there were shooting incidents in various locations in Chattanooga from Friday night to Sunday night. The latest was Sunday night night in the 3400 block of Dodds Avenue. A male and female suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“One of the officers assigned to this process was in the area of last night’s shooting, heard the gunshots, saw the suspect vehicle speed away and was unable to intervene,” said Police Chief Fred Fletcher.

Saturday night, Jimmy McCain, 33, of Chattanooga was across the street from a nightclub with his girlfriend when a fight broke out inside the club. According to police, the altercation turned into a gun battle between two groups of people. McCain was fatally hit by a stray bullet.

“Next thing I know, I hear a whole lot of gunshots ring out. Then I was like.. Jimmy hit. Jimmy hit. “All I remember is me jumping out the car trying to give him CPR.I don’t know who shot him. I heard a lot of stories, but I hope whoever did this {expletive} come clean because you all took my baby life it’s {expletive} up. He was a good man and he didn’t deserve this bull {expletive},” said McCain’s girlfriend.

“That victim is a result of this type of brazen violence. They don’t care about who gets caught,” said Fletcher.

McCain became the second person to be killed in Chattanooga since Wednesday. His death marks the 29th homicide in Chattanooga this year.
