Giving Tuesday

After all the shopping you may have done on Black Friday and Cyber Monday you may be looking for a way you can give back.

There is now a chance for you to do that locally, in Chattanooga.

Giving Tuesday is December 1st.

The event happens all across the country.

The idea is that after you’ve had your two days of spending, both on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to give back to others in need.

Causeway and United Way have come together to head the cause that allows people to give back to the community.

We spoke Chelsea Conrad, who is the Director of Creative Engagement at Causeway, about why they chose this year to bring the event to Chattanooga.

"We thought we could harness that power of Giving Tuesday that’s kind of gained some momentum nationally, and really challenge people to not only give on Giving Tuesday, but to give locally in Chattanooga on Giving Tuesday."

The organizations are looking to have about 3500 hundred donors. If you can’t give monetarily you can become a volunteer for one of Chattanooga non-profits.

On Tuesday night, from 5 until 9, there will be a celebration event at the Flying Squirrel in honor of #ChaGives Day.

10% of the proceeds will be given to both Causeway and United Way.
