Golden Apple: Dee Morris

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – Dee Morris has spent more than 25 years at Yates Primary School in Cleveland.

This elementary school teacher will do whatever it takes to keep her students excited about school.

Mike Collier notices her hard work.

He is the Principal at Donald P. Yates Primary School.

“Miss Morris makes a tremendous difference in our school. She is one of our veteran teachers here. And she is one of the teachers that has been here since the existence of the school, which is 26 years now, I believe is right.”

Morris has been teaching longer than the school has been around.

This is her 31st year in education.

She says it still brings her a lot of joy to make such a difference in the lives of her students.

Morris gets very animated in the classroom to keep the attention of her Kindergarten class.

“They are the most important part. They are the reason why I come every single day. I want them to feel significant and value. And I want them to know that they can accomplish whatever they set up to do.”

Her dedication and leadership have earned her this week’s Golden Apple Award.
