Gordon Lee High School Future

The future of the historic Gordon Lee High School in Chickamauga is uncertain.

Board members held their first meeting Tuesday night and unveiled three different proposals for a new high school. One proposal is to rebuild the school entirely. The current high school is 85-years old and fails to meet several codes. One former Gordon Lee High School student who attended the school since kindergarten says he will support any decision the board makes. Kirkland Holden, Former Student said, "I think it is one of the most beautiful campuses in the state of Georgia, and I haven’t been to many, but I think its gorgeous. I would hate to see it go if it did, but I would be okay with it because its for the best interest of the students."

Chickamauga residents will be able to voice their opinion about the future of the school in the coming weeks.
