Former Grace Baptist Academy assistant coach indicted for sexual contact with minor

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) A former assistant football coach at Grace Baptist Academy has been indicted on charges of sexual contact with a minor by an authority figure.

Investigators say the contact happened for two weeks last fall.

The allegation is that James Barker, Jr. persuaded the girl to “engage in simulated sexual activity” through a phone, email or webcam.

School officials say Barker served as an assistant football coach for a few seasons and then support staff for about 3 months, before he was terminated last fall.  They say since this is a personnel issue, they do not make public comment on those matters.
