Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Mapp Estates

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The first major housing construction in Brainerd in 15 years began this morning.

Groundbreaking and tree-planting ceremonies were held for Mapp Estates near Midland Pike and East Henderson Drive.

The project comes from the Grace Frank Group at Real Estate Partners.

Adamson Developers will build 25 affordable homes that will sell for $165, 000 up to $180,000.

The new development is named for long-time Chattanooga civil rights leader the late James R. Mapp.

“Thank you all so much for thinking about our dad. I’m sure he’s looking down on us right now. He’s probably beaming–feeling very good about his home town. Very good, very good feeling that things are still being done….in fact he told me just before he passed..he said–Miss Betty you remember this–I made a difference,” stated Jon Mapp who is the son of the late James R. Mapp.

The homes will be in the Woodmore elementary school zone.
