Group Protests Arraignment of Suspect in Mosque Bombing Plot

Chattanooga (WDEF) –  The arraignment of a Signal Mountain man who threatened a Muslim community in New York prompted a demonstration this morning in Chattanooga.

A group called The Muslims of America, Incorporated held what they called a Stand for Justice America rally at Miller Park.

Robert Doggart is accused of trying to organize an armed attack on residents of Islamberg, New York.

Doggard, who is under house arrest, may be charged with a hate crime.

Matthew Gardner of Muslims of America, Inc. told us "we just want to bring light to the fact that this man was planning to bring a small militia to our headquarters in Islamberg, New York, near Hancock, and he was going to firebomb our mosque and our school and he was going to kill our children."

Doggard will appear before magistrate Susan Lee in federal court this afternoon.

He was was arrested after FBI surveilance.
