Grundy County school board chairman resigns

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – The chaotic Grundy County school system now faces finding a new school board chairman.

Robert Foster sent the mayor a resignation letter on Tuesday.

The Grundy County Herald reports he is fed up with the division on the board.

In the letter, he wrote “I cannot, in good conscience, be involved with a board where some deliberately hurt, annoy, or offend (fellow board members/Director) especially when it impedes the education of our children.”

He goes on to call the last few school board meetings a disgrace.

Foster’s resignation is immediate.

There are several controversies going on in the school system.

Football players face attempted aggravated rape charges at the high school.

And a school board members vehicle was vandalized after he raised questions about how concessions money was being handled.

Then the school resource officer was restricted from looking at school surveillance video to find out who did it.
