Grundy deputy charged with domestic assault

ALTAMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Grundy County Sheriff has fired one his deputies after a domestic abuse complaint.

The department got a call about the incident Wednesday night.

The victim told officers that she went to the home of deputy Alan LaLonde to talk to him about the child she is expecting with him.

She says as she turned to use the bathroom, he grabbed her arm and shoved her against the wall.

She suffered bruises on her right arm.

The Sheriff says another female was at the home and witnessed the encounter.

LaLonde was released on bond with a GPS monitor.

Sheriff Clint Shrum says “I am extremely disappointed the actions of our team member that has resulted in his termination from this office.

An incident of this nature is unacceptable to me and only serves to tarnish and disdain the hard work done by the other members of this agency.

Domestic violence is a serious allegation and will be taken as such by this agency.’

LaLonde has been relieved of his duty for conduct below the standards of the office and conduct unbecoming.
