Hamilton County commemorates 50th anniversary of Vietnam War

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County officials paid tribute to those who served in the Vietnam War Thursday afternoon.
Mayor Jim Coppinger was presented a commemorative flag noting the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
The flag honors the men and women who survived the conflict, as well as the more than 58,000 men and women who lost their lives.
Mickey McCamish of the U.S. Navy (Retired) said, “We are a generation…. that, when we return to America, some of America turned it’s back on us. But what we did is we never turned our back on America.”
The commemorative flag noting the anniversary will be flown on the courthouse lawn flag pole.
