The Hamilton County Health Department announced layoffs today.

The cuts follow an operational review.

They are laying off 13 employees and will not fill two vacant positions.

“These decisions are never made lightly. The employees impacted by this decision have served our division and community with dedication, professionalism, and compassion. We are grateful for their many contributions to public health.”

– Beka Bohannon, Administrator of Health & Social Services Division said.

The Health and Social Services Division will end their Dental Clinic and their Community Assistance Program.

Both will end on July First.

They say dental supplies from the closing clinic will be redistributed to support ongoing programs such as the Homeless Health Care Center’s Dental Clinic & the School-Based Dental Sealant Program.
Surplus equipment, including dental chairs, may be donated to local nonprofit organizations serving similar populations.

However, the Homeless and school dental programs will remain in tact.

Officials say these are the only cuts planned at this point.
