Hamilton Heights 6’10 Abdulhakim Ado Working on Becoming Top Prospect
Chattanooga-(WDEF) One of the top young basketball prospects in America plays high school ball in Chattanooga.
It’s 6’10 forward Abdulhakim Ado of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy.
Good luck getting a shot off in the paint when the Nigerian native is present.
Since basketball is not the sport of choice in Nigeria, Abdulhakim Ado had some work to do when he arrived at Hamilton Heights in 2013.
Said Hamilton Heights head coach Zach Ferrell,"He was really new to the game. Only been playing the game for about a year-and-a-half to two years. Very raw in his offensive skills."
Defensively though, Ado is a shot-blocking master.
Said Ferrell, "Nobody wants to go inside. Even this past weekend when he’s playing at a big AAU weekend with high level players, nobody wants to go inside."
Said Ado,"Somebody shot a three, and I just jumped up. Caught the ball, and then went for a dunk on a fast break."
Ado’s offensive skills are also improving.
He scored 41 points in a game against Bradley Central last year.
Now college scouts are knocking on his door.
Said Ado,"Somebody is talking about me. I never thought somebody was going to talk about me my whole life."
A lot of people will soon be talking about Ado.
He has been invited to play on the USA Elite National Under 20 team this summer in France, and he has been invited to the Nike Elite 100 camp.
Said Ado,"It’s a great opportunity to play against the best players in the nation. Here I’m going to France to play for the United States. I mean it’s truly a blessing. I thank God. I thank God for that."
Ado will only be a junior next year, but he’s hoping for a break-out season.
"I want to come out next season to be among the best players in the nation."
