CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The sweet sounds of music filled First Baptist Church in Chattanooga tonight.
Students from dozens of schools gathered together for an event called “Hamilton Sings.”
This is the 2nd year for the event, representing 40 Hamilton County schools.
It all started with a day of music education events for local 5th graders.
It ended with a student performance that was free to the public.
All of the kids who performed actually auditioned for a chance to represent their schools.
Organizers hope to build awareness of the importance of arts education in our local schools.
The event is sponsored by Hamilton County Schools with support from the Public Education Foundation, Chattanooga Boys’ Choir, the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and First Baptist Church, Golden Gateway.
