Renaissance Park Murder Suspect Dies From Suicide Attempt
Hamilton County, Tenn. (WDEF) – The prime suspect in a murder at Renaissance Park is now dead.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Tyree Corley attempted to commit suicide inside the Hamilton County Jail.
He died from his injuries today at a local hospital.
Chattanooga Police believe Corley shot and robbed 45-year old Kathy Hardy a week and a half ago. Her body was found on a pier inside Renaissance park.
Corley had been charged with Felony Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery.
Hamilton County, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reports that an inmate at the Hamilton County Jail attempted to hang himself this afternoon.
Spokesperson J. Matt Lea says the inmate was found around 2 PM. Upon finding the inmate, emergency personnel at the jail were immediately notified and responded with medical aid. An immediate notification was made to HCEMS as well.
The inmate was transported emergency via HCEMS to a local hospital, and is listed in critical condition at this time.
The name of the inmate is not being released until proper notification has been made to the next-of-kin.
Detectives have responded to the jail to investigate the incident.
