Hey Everyone, that big pro football player grew up here at our station

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – This is a proud day at News 12 Now.

A kid who ran around our building a decade ago just got drafted to the NFL.

Darron Lee got picked 20th overall by the New York Jets Thursday night in the NFL draft.

Candice LeeHis mom, Candice Lee, was an anchor here at News 12.

So a young Darron spent plenty of time here at the station, running our halls in his elementary school days.

And he joined his first football team here in town.

Candice and Darron moved on to Columbus, Ohio where she still works at NBC 4.

So Darron played high school football there, then helped win a National Championship for Urban Meyer at Ohio State.

After his Sophomore season last fall, he announced his plans to go pro.

And today, The New York Jets are celebrating their top pick.
