Off-Duty Chattanooga State Officer Involved in Highway 58 Shooting

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Late Saturday night, Chattanooga Police are investigating a shooting after responding to the parking lot of Hungry House on Highway 58 for a call reporting shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with an off-duty Chattanooga State officer, who working a security job in the area, observed a party shooting at an occupied vehicle on the lot.

The Chattanooga State officer stated he fired at the suspect.

An injured victim, whose identity is being withheld due to safety concerns, arrived at a local hospital by personal vehicle with a gunshot wound, considered non-life-threatening.

The injured party advised police that multiple people in a passing vehicle shot at him while in the parking lot in the 4400 block of Highway 58 and he returned fire.

Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are actively investigating this shooting. If anyone has further information, call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525. The call can remain anonymous.
