Honoring the life of Ooltewah’s Mike Carter

OOLTEWAH, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Memorial Service will be held at 2 Friday afternoon for State Representative Mike Carter.

It will be held at Ooltewah Baptist Church with Visitation starts at Noon.

Carter passed away Saturday night.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer after dealing with COVID-19 in November.

Carter represented Ooltewah and District 29 for 9 years, and played a large role in the anti-annexation bill for Ooltewah during his time in office.

Friend Chuck Fleischmann reflected on his career for us.

“He always gave back and then he finally stepped up in the role of my state representative in Nashville. He did a tremendous job passing key legislation in so many different areas to help the people of Tennessee. So, the tremendous legacy, the tremendous life of service. Mike will be sorely missed.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
