Howard student arrested with a firearm in his locker

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Police found a gun inside the locker of a Howard High Student on Monday morning.

They say 18 year old Desmond McKevie already had outstanding warrants against him for a gun related incident over the weekend.

He was on parole, so he was wearing a GPS monitoring device that placed him at school.

The Department contacted the school resource officer who took McKevie into custody.

They say McKevie told the SRO that he had a firearm in his backpack, which was in the locker.

Between the outstanding warrants and the gun, he now faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Vandalism, Possessing a Firearm with the intent to go armed, and Carrying Weapons on school property.

The school system issued this release on the incident.
