Hughes Beautification Project kicks off

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – A Chattanooga beautification project has officially broken ground Saturday morning.

This project will help benefit Alton Park in south chattanooga and it’s going to beautify one block of Hughes avenue.

Early Saturday morning, volunteers helped plant several trees to help kick start the project.

The new space will include a community garden, meditation area, a stage , trees and maybe a play area here.

Executive director of the Net Resource Foundation says the project is estimated to cost around $52,000 and the ideas for the project came from within the community.

“The point is to begin revitalization of south chattanooga. When you do projects like beautification projects or curb appeal projects that will bring in more attention and investment into the community which is something south chattanooga definitely wants,” says Raquetta Dotley, Net Resource founder.

The Hughes project is still in need of organizations or people to help sponsor community benches. If you are interested click here
