Increased police presence at Red Bank High after weapon found on student

UPDATE: RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says that a student was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The student is charged with Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds and Theft/Possession of Stolen Property.


Previous Story: Hamilton County School officials say a student at Red Bank High School was found with a weapon in their possession on campus.

It was reported to administration by another student Wednesday.

The Red Bank High school resource officer located the student and took possession of the weapon.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

School officials say there will be increased law enforcement and administrative presence at Red Bank High School this afternoon as an additional precautionary measure.

They are commending the alert student who was willing to come forward with the information.

The statement says that when the students, parents, and the community stays alert, those people help to keep schools safe.

A parent told us that his child sent him a text letting him know they were on a soft lockdown.

This lasted for about 30-40 minutes around noon today.

Multiple parents were picking up their kids early because of this incident.
