ISGC Hold Open House

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga held its second annual open house event today.

The goal is to bring together a better understanding of the Islamic faith.

The half day event included tours of the facility, educational materials and prayer times.

The attendance there was so large cars were lined up down the street and some took shuttles.

President of Understanding Islam Da’awah Foundation Hammad El-Ameen says, ‘we don’t want other people defining what Islam is. So, people are here today. They’re meeting the Muslim’s; having a good time. We’re answering the questions they have and anytime you can provide knowledge for people then it removes fear; it removes ignorance.’

Bryce Current, Associate Pastor at Pilgrim Congregational Church, says, “there are a lot of similarities, of course. When you look at the Quran and you read through it and you read through the Bible, you find that there are a lot of similarities both in the tenor and tone of what the Quran says.”

Police officers were on scene and no incidents were reported.
