Johnny Majors’ grand-niece stabbed to death in New York
NEW YORK (WDEF) – Police are charging a 13 year old with the murder of the grand-niece of Tennessee legend Johnny Majors.
Tessa Majors was a freshman at Barnard College in Manhattan.
On Wednesday, she was walking through Morningside Park and was stabbed several times.
Police believe she resisted during a robbery attempt.
Investigators later arrested the 13 year old for trespassing and noticed he was wearing clothes that matched the description of one of the robbers. They also found a knife on him.
A source tells CBS News that the teen admitted to the holdup and said he was with two friends.
There have been five robberies in the same area since June. The underground passage is a popular connector for Columbia and Barnard students.
Johnny Majors was an All-American football player and later coach of the Tennessee Vols.
