JROTC teacher receives awards for helping recruits

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A local teacher at Sequoyah High School, has earned not one, but two big awards for helping recruit young people.

Sgt. 1st Class Shannon Hamrick is the J-ROTC teacher at Sequoyah High School.

During a surprise celebration, she found out that she has earned the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Tennessee State Distinguished Service Medal.

Sgt. Hamrick got the awards for her work at the school.
