Kaleigh Clemons Sparks Baylor With Her Ball-Handling Skills
Chattanooga-(WDEF) Kaleigh Clemons is a wizard with the basketball, and she credits her father for helping her develop those ball-handling skills.
"Those one-on-one moments were more than just basketball to me. They where having that father figure who really showed that he had that love for me, and so much love for me, and cared for me."
Teammates and opponents certainly don’t love trying to defend Clemons.
Said teammate Crosby Huckabay,"She is really quick and athletic and her agility is just insane"
Said head coach John Gibson,"When I first started doing this 10 years ago everybody pressed us, but people don’t press us quite as much as they used to."
Reporter-"Has she ever put the moves on you?"
Said Huckabay,"Actually she did that the other day and I rolled my ankle really bad so I blame her for my hurt foot."
Clemons averages 13-points and seven assists a game.
Said Clemons,"There is no better feeling than to pass off to your teammate and have them make a huge play off what you can set up for them."
Perhaps the only way to stop Clemons is to remove her head band.
"When it comes off, I feel like I play a little bit differently, so I have to get it back on. I have to have that piece of gum. Every quarter a fresh piece, and I think without it, I’d feel like a whole different player."
Clemons guided Baylor to the last three Best of Preps Tournament titles, earning MVP honors all three times.
"Being MVP, it just makes you hungrier for more because I want to take this to college and things like that."
Said Gibson,"She works extremely hard, and she wants to play at a high level, and I think that helps her."
