Kids check out emergency vehicles at the Angry Birds movie

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) Carmike Cinemas and Hamilton County emergency personnel joined forces to help teach children about the roles of police officers, firefighters, and other emergency crew members.

The event was called “Protect Chattanooga’s Flock.”

The purpose of the event was to bring a positive image to law enforcement and all emergency crews, while tying in the theme of the new “Angry Birds” film, which deals with how a community can work together to solve problems.

Parents and their children got a chance to explore different emergency vehicles and ask questions to emergency personnel.

Captain Charles Lowery Jr. with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department said “We don’t give kids enough credit to understand what actually is happening and we just want to make sure that they understand we’re here to help. And part of our job is getting the bad guys off the street, but also as far as the community relationship…we’re there for the community.”

The Angry Birds Movie is being shown at all Hamilton County Carmike locations.
