Last Call for Girl Scout Cookies

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- In response to the covid pandemic, Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachian, which serves the East Tennessee region, will host a series of last call drive-thru events.

The kickoff event will take place Saturday, May 1st at Second Missionary Baptist Church.

Despite unique efforts to sell cookies, sales for the Southern Appalachian group were down 30 percent.

The non-profit has over 100 thousand boxes of unsold cookies in East Tennessee, in part, because of the inability to sell their yummy cookies door to door.

“Girls have tried to be a bit more innovative doing sales online and selling with online web stores” said Director of Product Programs Sandra Hubbell.  “That definitely made a a big difference and help the sales quite a bit but we’re definitely are seeing the impact of losing a lot of that in person connection with customers.”

Saturday’s event at Second Missionary Baptist Church is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
