Local Motorcycle Club Donates to HCSO

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn, (WDEF)- The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is used to helping others, but today they got some help themselves.

One local motorcycle club decided to lend the county’s public servants a hand.

The Roughneck Hamilton County chapter presented a check of 4,000 dollars to the department.

This money will go to assist the Reserve Officer program.

It will provide up to at least 20 bullet proof vests that will be a part of the uniform of the reserve officers.

This program has lacked funding in the past, but with this donation, it may help further the program.

Sheriff Jim Hammond said, ” So these are men and women who normally have jobs elsewhere that become reserve officers. So it’s always tough to get the extra budgeting we need to out fit them with different things we need such as the bullet proof vest and the other equipment that they have, that they carry with them.”

The Reserve Officer Program has a total of 50 people.

With this donation, about half of those them will be given the new bulletproof vests.
