Local Organizations Promote Preschool Readiness

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A group of local organizations this morning gathered at the IMAX theatre to promote preschool readiness.

The partnership is between Youth and Family Development, The Aquarium, Baby University, Read 20 and WTCI.

Bus loads of youngsters arrived at the IMAX to see a screening of the 3D movie, One Big Ocean.

PBS is running a series called Splashing Bubbles, that seeks to teach kids about fish and the oceans.

“Today is really, we tried to make it a day where we can bring in kids that wouldn’t necessarily have the opportunity to come on their own, and um, it just worked out to be a wonderful day, as you can tell, I mean – lots of kids,” said Shawn Kurrelmeir- Lee

“Our job as adults is to make sure that you have the chance to unleash your talent and potential. And so part of what we want to do, is give you those experiences that show you what the world can be,” said Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.

The youngsters were also treated to lunch after the movie.
