Local Teenager Stabbed Nearly To Death, and Mom Wants Answers

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A local teenager is sitting in the Intensive Care Unit tonight, and now her mother is speaking out.

Roxanne Dodson says her 19-year-old daughter, Heidi Swafford, is now suffering from nerve damage after being attacked by a group of girls Tuesday afternoon, “My daughter came in the house, and she said that it was four girls trying to fight her.”

Chattanooga police said the fight took place on Woodside St., with the five teenagers girls, one of which stabbed Swafford multiple times.

“She had been stabbed four times,” said Dodson, “She got stabbed once on top of the head. Once right below her ear, on her front, and her back and she lost a lot of blood.”

Swafford was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was sedated. Dodson says she still has no idea what caused the argument, but has reason to believe it could have started online.

Doctors say because Heidi is so young, she should heal quickly. The 16-year-old who stabbed her has been identified, and is facing charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault. The three other suspects have also been identified.
