Lookout Mountain Suites set to close

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Another Chattanooga extended stay motel announces its closing its doors.

Last month, Chatt City Suites shutdown. This time it’s Lookout Mountain Suites.

Sharon Dragg lives at Lookout Mountain Suites. She has been there for four years. She likes the convenience of it.

“It is close to stores. I have a nephew that is autistic and he feels safe. I feel safe in this neighborhood, as far as living,” Dragg said.

Recently, she received a 30 day notice saying the extended stay motel would be closing for renovations. All residents were told they would have to leave by March 12.

“My reaction was ‘Oh Lord, where am I going?’ I like it out here,” Dragg said.

Managers at lookout Mountain Suites say they are working with people and they are not just throwing them out on the streets.

City officials say they will do everything they can to connect them with safe, sustainable permanent housing solutions as quickly as possible. They added they will make themselves available to the residents next month and they look forward to providing them with as much assistance as they can during this transition.
As for Drag, she is hoping residents get all the help they can get.

“I am hoping praying that the agencies out there will come in and help us, because we have been helping ourselves and we need help,” Dragg said.

Representative Yusuf Hakeem plans to visit the property on Thursday and meet with residents.
