Lookouts Shutout by Barons, 6-0
The Birmingham Barons defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts, 6-0, in front of a crowd of 4,419 at AT&T Field.
The game began as a pitchers duel between White Sox Number One Prospect Carson Fulmer and Lookouts starting pitcher DJ Baxendale. For the first six innings both pitchers traded putting zeroes on the board. Both Fulmer and Baxendale finished the game only allowing four hits in six innings while striking out six batters.
With the game tied at zero entering the seventh inning the Barons broke the stale mate on a Jake Peter RBI single. The second run was plated on a Joey DeMichele double.
Down two the Lookouts bats could not get going. The team ended the night with seven hits and four errors.
Birmingham put the Lookouts away in the top of the ninth with four more runs to make it 6-0.
Tomorrow the Lookouts and the Barons play each other in an afternoon matinee. Gates for tomorrow’s 2:15 game open at 1:00 p.m.
