Lookouts Take Series Finale Against M-Braves 3-1

(lookouts.com) The Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Mississippi Braves 3-1 in Friday night’s series finale at AT&T Field. With the series tied 2-2, Friday night’s contest was a winner take all affair in which the Lookouts came out on top to capture their 19th series victory of the season.

Chattanooga elected to send right hander, Ryan Eades (3-2, 3.97) to the mound as their starter and he delivered. Normally a middle relief pitcher, Eades gave the Lookouts a solid four innings of work. On the night, Eades allowed four hits, and one run which was earned, issued two walks, and struck out three.

Mississippi scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning after Joseph Odom grounded into a double play, allowing Travis Demeritte to score from third base. Mississippi maintained their 1-0 lead until the Lookouts answered by scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from LaMonte Wade. Brian Olson advanced from third to score on Wade’s sacrifice fly, tying the game 1-1.

The Lookouts took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning when T.J. White ripped a sharp single down the left field line, which allowed Wade to easily score from third. Jonathan Rodriguez was thrown out at the plate by M-Braves left fielder, Jared James in an attempt to score on White’s single. Andy Wilkins advanced to third on the throw from James. Max Murphy followed White with another scorching double down the left field line, plating Wilkins from third, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Lookouts.

Lookouts relief pitchers, Cody Stashak, Alex Muren and Gabriel Moya also played a key role in the Lookouts Friday night victory, as the three combined for five shutout innings. Muren (2-0, 1.38) earned the win, his second as a Chattanooga Lookout in 2017. Moya collected his 23rd save of the season and lowered his ERA to an astonishing 0.82. M-Braves reliever, Michael Mader (5-5, 4.32) suffered the loss for Mississippi.

Chattanooga (84-46) will travel to Jackson, TN on Saturday to take on their in-state rival and North Division foe, the Jackson Generals (65-65) in a five game road series. RHP, Zack Littell (3-0, 3.03) will get the start for the Lookouts. Jackson will also start a right-hander, as Joel Payamps (6-5, 4.43) has been named the starter for the Generals on Saturday night.

Game one of the five game series between the Lookouts and the Generals will take place at The Ballpark at Jackson on Saturday, August 26th at 7:05 p.m. (ET).
