M-Braves Beat Lookouts 6-5 For First Win Over Chattanooga This Season

(Lookouts.com) CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Connor Lien hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning, and Austin Riley had two hits and scored two runs as the Mississippi Braves beat the Chattanooga Lookouts 6-5 on Tuesday.

The triple by Lien scored Joey Meneses and Keith Curcio to give the Braves a 5-2 lead.

The Braves tacked on another run in the seventh when Alex Jackson hit an RBI single, driving in Riley.

Chattanooga saw its comeback attempt come up short after T.J. White hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to help cut the Mississippi lead to 6-5.

Mississippi right-hander Mike Soroka (11-8) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. Opposing starter Dereck Rodriguez (5-3) took the loss in the Southern League game after allowing five runs and six hits over 5 2/3 innings. Josh Graham pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

White homered, doubled and singled, scoring two runs for the Lookouts. Edgar Corcino homered and singled.

Despite the loss, Chattanooga is 7-1 against Mississippi this season.
