Major backup on I-75 South
Overturned semi shuts down right lane
Traffic on I-75 South came to a virtual standstill early Friday afternoon.
A semi-truck hauling empty cans overturned near Exit 11 in Ooltewah, according to the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department’s Twitter.
Crews from both Tri-Community VFD and Chattanooga Fire Department’s Special Operations were working to stop a fuel leak from the truck at around 1 p.m.
The right lane of I-75 is currently closed.
The Twitter post from Tri-Community VFD said traffic is backed up for at least seven miles.
The department also said mild delays should be expected on Mountain View Road, as crews are accessing the semi from there.
