Major expansion of the VW eLab program in Hamilton County
Labs give high schoolers access to state of the art tech for desiging
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Education leaders today announced a major expansion of the Volkswagen eLabs in Hamilton County.
Six years ago, the auto maker teamed up with educators to teach students digital fabrication.
In the labs, students get to use emerging technologies like automated manufacturing equipment, 3D printers, robotics, microcomputers, renewable energy kits, and digital design tools.
Today’s announcement was the largest investment yet for the program.
The $5.3 million grant will created 34 new eLabs, including 17 more here in Hamilton County.
That doubles the number in local schools.
