Man charged with CARTA bus carjacking

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)- On Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 12:50 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to reports of a carjacking.

Police say, in a statement, they were alerted to  the carjacking of a CARTA bus.
The bus was located on Market Street where it was stopped.
The 45-year-old, Chadrick Weaver, was taken into custody.
Police were told that Weaver got onto the bus on Brainerd Road. After a few stops, Weaver revealed a shotgun and robbed a passenger on the bus. Weaver had the driver take a route towards downtown, where the bus was then intercepted by police.
No one was injured during the carjacking.
The suspect was charged with aggravated robbery, carjacking, aggravated kidnapping and weapons charges.
