Man drowns at Mac Point swimming area

POLK COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – An Atlanta man is dead after drowning in Polk County.

Around 3:45 Saturday afternoon, Polk County Deputies responded to Mac Point swimming area on Parksville Lake.

When they arrived, deputies began assisting several people in the search for the victim.

About 15 minutes later, the Polk County Sheriff says the victim, Jesus Antonio Castro, was pulled from the water and someone began CPR.

Castro is a 37-year-old from Douglasville, GA near Atlanta and was at the lake with his church group, according to Polk County Sheriff Steve Ross.

Witness’ told the deputies that Castro was swimming and then appeared to start having trouble and went under.

Sheriff Steve Ross expressed the departments thoughts and prayers for the Castro family and Castro’s Church family.
