Man shot by police released from hospital & taken to jail

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The man who was shot by a Chattanooga police officer over the weekend has been released from the hospital.

50 year old Joel Harrish was shot in the leg by officers responding to an armed suspect in a disturbance call on Tunnel Boulevard.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department has taken over the investigation for the city.

They took Harris into custody on Tuesday.

He faces charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Reckless Endangerment, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting a police stop, theft and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Two Chattanooga officers are on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
