Man washed over Little River Falls in northeast Alabama

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – Park Rangers have made another rescue in the Little River Canyon in northeast Alabama.

Around 11:30 on Tuesday, a 39 year old man was washed over the falls.

He was flown out of the canyon below by an Alabama State Trooper helicopter.

Officials say he suffered major injuries.

The Little River Falls is about 45 feet tall.

You can walk out to the falls on flat slabs of stone.

The falls empties into a canyon with sheer walls and limited access that runs down the end of Lookout Mountain.

Tuesday’s rescue was the fourth major incident at the falls this summer.

“Rescue personnel and park staff requests everyone to think about what is safe to do in the park during their visit.”
