Manhunt in Chickamauga Battlefield Friday morning

FORT OGLETHORPE, Georgia (WDEF) – A manhunt closed most of the Chickamauga Battlefield on Friday morning.

Several law enforcement agencies are searching the battlefield after a wanted man led police on a high-speed chase.

They say Dewayne Burns wrecked his vehicle in a ditch, and then ran off on foot.

He was wanted in Tennessee in connection to a domestic assault before midnight.

And apparently officers fired shots at him during the chase.

Two firearms have been recovered from his vehicle.

Burns is still at large, but the park has now re-opened.

The GBI has taken over the case.
