McKamey Animal Center is far over capacity, asking for the public’s help

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — McKamey Animal Shelter is facing a crisis.

The Animal Shelter currently has over 600 animals within its walls, which is far more than they can handle alone.

McKamey is asking for volunteers, foster carers, and people to adopt if they’re able.

Saturday at 1PM, McKamey will be hosting a ‘behind the scenes’ event to help bolster adoptions.

Inga Fricke, Executive Director, McKamey Animal Center tells us, “We would love to see as many people as possible come on out and help us out. The staff are struggling our volunteers are struggling. It breaks our heart every day that we can’t do everything we want to for these animals and we can’t give everyone the individual love and attention that they need, but hopefully the viewers can and will.”

Now through Sunday, animal adoptions are free to help alleviate the stress on the shelter
