Englewood woman faces statutory rape charges involving high school students

ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – The McMinn county woman who faces numerous charges including aggravated statutory rape, was back in court this morning.

38 year old Melissa Blair of Englewood and her attorneys are requesting a change of venue because of media coverage and comments on social media.

Judge Andrew Mark Freiberg denied the request, but left the door open to reconsider it in the future.

Her trial is set for August 8th.

Last February, Blair was initially indicted on 18 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, solicitation of minor and patronizing prostitution.

The minors were high school students.

Several more charges were added later.

She is currently released on a 100-thousand dollar bond.
