Michael Shavers back in court on possible parole violation

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A man convicted in a shooting was in Hamilton County Criminal Court this morning, after being accused of violating his probation.

Back in June, Michael Shavers plead guilty to lesser charges in the 2015 shooting of his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.

He was sentenced to probation and his ten year sentence was suspended.

Shavers is now accused of violating his probation by failing drug tests.

On Thursday, Shavers was in court with a new lawyer and his hearing was pushed back.

Judge Tom Greenholtz says despite reassurances misconduct wouldn’t occur, it did.

“It tends to indicate that maybe rehabilitation is not working in this particular case. That is the court’s concern just so that everyone is aware of the nature, where the lay of the land is.”

Shavers is expected to be back in court on November 15th.
