Mocs Basketball Team Still Taking Shape a Month Before March Madness

Chattanooga-(WDEF) With an 8-2 SoCon record, the Mocs are in solid position to earn a bye in the SoCon tournament.

But there’s still a month of action to shape Chattanooga’s team for March Madness.
Since the Mocs are all alone in second place in the Southern Conference, they’re not going to complain about a rugged three game road trip on the horizon.
Said center Justin Tuoyo,"It feels good. This is where we want to be at. It could be worse. You could be playing to get a bye."(in the SoCon Tournaement)
Coach Wade says his team has to keep improving just to keep up with the best teams in the SoCon.
"We’ve got to get better. Reality is, we can’t count on other teams getting worse. If you bank on that, that’s a tough way to live."
And one player making big strides lately for UTC has been Chuck Ester.
Said Wade,"He’s a good shooter. We want him to take those step-in threes. I think he can be a 35-percent three-point shooter for us."
Added Tuoyo,"I tell him all the time. I struggled before. Everyone has struggled before. Don’t put your head down. He never did. So he’s coming along, and he’ll get better from here."
Tuoyo had his struggles last week against Mercer, finishing with three points and five fouls.
Following that game, it sounds like Tuoyo took his cue from the theme song to Frozen.
"I mean, it was a bad game. Just let it go. They told me to let it go."
Said Wade,"It’s one thing to tell him to let it go."
Said Tuoyo,"You’ve just got to try your hardest to let it go."
Said Wade,"It’s easy to say let it go. We have to say let it go and give him a plan of how to let it go."
Reporter-"You weren’t trying to sing the song from ‘Frozen’ called ‘Let it Go’ were you?"
Laughs Tuoyo,"No sir."
Coach Wade always has a song in his heart when point guard Greg Pryor is in the lineup.
"I’m a little bit calmer when he’s out there. I feel like he’s in control. One thing as a coach you really want is you want trust in your players, and I really trust Greg."
Chattanooga hits the road for Furman on Thursday.
