Mocs Coach Rusty Wright Glad to See Dead Period End

The dead period is finally over for college recruiting, including the Chattanooga Mocs.
When the pandemic started in March of 2020, the NCAA shut down all in-person recruiting.

Well the ban was lifted on June 1st, so Mocs coach Rusty Wright and his staff were free to hit the recruiting trail and welcome recruits to campus. They’ll also be allowed to host football camps later this month. The dead period was a strange time for UTC. Coach Wright never met in-person with the recruits in his last signing class.

Said Wright:”That’s what really hurt this past year. We went a lot off on high school coaches and guidance counselors and teachers and people we knew in and around the school. Even high school coaches that played against some of these guys. That was a big deal too. Football is going to get back to being football. It’s going to be hot. Camps are going on. You’re going to watch kids go compete and perform and do those things. You’re going to get a live look at them. That’s been the biggest thing. We’re going to get back to football being a live look. It’s not going to be again form behind a computer screen and sitting there waiting.”
