Mocs Davis Tull Ready For Homecoming on Rocky Top
Perhaps no one is more excited for the Tennessee-Chattanooga game this weekend than Mocs defensive end Davis Tull.
He grew up in Knoxville, so he’ll enjoy a homecoming on Rocky Top.
Said Tull,"Growing up five minutes from the stadium, it’s going to be awesome to come home."
And Tull admits his trip to Rocky Top will feel like a family reunion.
"My whole family went to Tennessee. Some of them worked in the athletic office. They’re pretty integrated into that program. I know even some of my family members are talking about wearing orange. So I told them that they need to go ahead and get their Mocs jerseys ready."
On top of the family ties in Knoxville, Tull went to high school with the Vols Devrin Young.
"I’m sure there will be some friendly chatter on Saturday. I hope so. I hope to see him out there."
Despite growing up in the shadow of Neyland Stadium, Tull never really dreamed of running through the ‘T’.
"I never thought about playing at Tennessee. I don’t think they had much interest in me playing there either so."
The Vols will show plenty of interest in Tull Saturday. In his last two games, Tull has six tackles for a loss, and four sacks.
Said Vols head coach Butch Jones,"People at Central Michigan after their game called me and said this young man is a very, very talented football player. When you watch him on film, he plays with effort. He plays with toughness. He has that mentality to be disruptive and rush the passer as well. Been very, very impressed with him."
Tull will line up against a young UT offensive line that gave up six sacks to Florida.
Said Tull,"No one is coming into this game thinking any less of them just because they might have struggled by their standards offensively against other SEC teams. It’s still going to be a challenge, but it’s one we welcome and look forward to."
