Mocs Justin Tuoyo Dumps Career High 21 Points on Kennesaw State in UTC Victory
CHATTANOOGA—Junior Justin Tuoyo led the Chattanooga Mocs (9-2) to a 78-66 win over Kennesaw State (3-10) with his sixth-career double-double of 21 points, a career high, and 12 rebounds.
The first half began with both teams trading baskets to result in a tied game, 33-33, at halftime. The Mocs fell into an 8-point deficit with 16:56 to go, but a Tre’ McLean corner three pointer gave UTC momentum and tied the game at 58-58. That sparked a 12-2 run by the Mocs, capped off by a Tuoyo dunk.
This is the second time in his career that Tuoyo scored 20 or more points in a game, and he was also one rebound shy of tying his career-high. Three other Mocs also scored in double figures, including Eric Robertson (15), McLean (14) and Chuck Ester (11).
The Owls had three players who scored in double figures. They were paced by Yonel Brown (24), while Bernard Morena and Kendrick Ray added 13 and 12 points respectively.
