Mocs Move Up to 9th in Latest Poll Tieing Record For Highest Ever Ranking

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team clinched its first outright Southern Conference title since 1984 with Saturday’s 31-13 win over Wofford.  Today, the Mocs tied a program record with their No. 9 national ranking in this week’s Sports Network Top-25 and FCS Coaches Polls.

The consensus No. 9 ranking is the highest for UTC since that same spot on Sept. 21, 1992 in the Street & Smith listings.  Chattanooga was also No. 9 on Sept. 12, 1991.

UTC has been ranked for 22 weeks in the Russ Huesman era (since 2009).  Chattanooga is 11-10 when ranked in the Top 25 since 2010.

The Mocs take their 7-3 record, 6-0 in SoCon outings, to Tennessee Tech for a non-conference game this weekend.  Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. (E.S.T.) in Cookeville, Tenn.
