Mom accused of child abuse: “Yes I choked her a– out”

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – Instead of spending Thanksgiving with family and friends, a Chattanooga mom is sitting behind bars after police say she beat up her daughter.

Kedendi Bivens, 31, was charged with one count of child abuse. 

The case against Bivens began Wednesday evening then police were called to a home in the 2700 block of 6th Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they reportedly spotted Bivens sitting on top of her daughter. They also noticed her daughter was bleeding profusely from her nose.

According to the arrest affidavit, when officers separated the two, the daughter told an officer her nose was bleeding because her mother punched her. 

The daughter told police she found her mothers stash of marijuana and smoke it. When her mother found out, she reportedly gave the daughter an ultimatum by asking her if she wanted to get an "a– whipping or go to jail." 

According to the affidavit, the daughter tried to walk away when her mother pushed and punched her in the face. The daughter told police that after the pushing and punching, her mother choked her. 

When police questioned Bivens, she reportedly admitted to officers that she did punch her daughter in the nose. After the admission, Bivens reportedly said," Yes I choked her a– out."

When an officer took Bivens into custody and walked her to a squad car, her body reportedly went limp so officers had to carry her to the police vehicle. 

While en-route to the Hamilton County Jail, Bivens reportedly started using racial slurs while kicking the squad car windows. 

A judge set her bond at $40,000.

Her next court date is December 11.

Bivens is no stranger to law enforcement. She’s been arrested and convicted twice for disorderly conduct. she was also convicted for criminal trespassing.
